For me, one of the best restaurants in Istanbul -- warm, friendly atmosphere, excellent food and stunning views across the Bosphorous down to the Sea of Marmara -- can be very busy, so if you want a terrace table make reservations!

Not many travellers find this hidden gem, on the top floor of the Ko&ccedil; University building on Istiklal Cadessi but it&#39;s worth seeking out. A discreet sign by the entrance to the building is the only clue to this brasserie but go to the rear of the building and step into the glass elevator and press the button for the top floor. As you travel up the most superb view of the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and Sultanahmet is revealed. The same view can be had from the terrace on one side of the brasserie where heaters and shawls are available for less warm days. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food excellent, offering a similar menu to other Divan properties, including a traditional tasting menu. Several of the options are gluten free including the excellent quinoa salad. The menus as a whole offer excellent value.
